All I heard for 8 hours was how much she LOVED these men who didn't really love her in the way she wanted. She has two kids by her husband who was a martial arts master. He seemed kool I would have loved to hear more about him. Shes brags about others while didn't even have money to buy fish for her kids to eat when she dropped the dinner on the floor. This was a waste of my 8 hours and there is a lot of cussing in it. Hello this is what Black Women have been complaining about for years. I don't need to hear it from you. The men in her story used her and she doesn't even realize it. That was sad and depressing. She might have helped them get rich but she didn't help herself and that's the ssad part. I wanted so much more from this book. I was interested in her story from the commercial I saw. I purchased a download here on Audible and listened and kept wanting it to be more,but it was not my type of hype. It's so sad. I hope she listens to her own book and put herself in our shoes. This should should have been some stories she took to the grave. I wouldn't have shared 60% of this book with anyone. But as a Black Female I'm 100% familiar of how these types of men use women they are not interested in and it doesn't really matter how beautiful you are. This is what they do. That's what I heard. And I was also getting sick of her saying. Rest in peace. How DEPRESSING.. I gave two stars because I think it needs to be real. How do you feel now? Did you read your own book? I'm not judging but we readers/consumers have our own problems we want you to bring us some enlightenment. You act like a Geddy 20 year old. Get over it. Young women don't need to hear this unless it's how men will use you and you aren't good enough to be the wife but you are good enough for them to dump their issues, have you go out and market them without paying you enough money. That''s what I heard. No I don't recommend this book. It was terrible. I thought she would have EVOLVED she didn't evolve she didn't even realize her mistakes. Seriously? It is also done in a unique and engaging and searingly honest way - Chang pulls no punches and speaks truth after truth about herself and the world around her. Then she brags about deciding to keep her relationship with hot guys like Method Man and D'Angelo as only friends, as if she actually had a chance of dating them for real, and that's just plain sad and delusional (she really seems to believe that she's that hot, lol). I needed this without knowing that I needed this, and I needed to hear her story more than she needed to tell me. To be honest I have not heard of Sophia Chang and after stumbling upon her audio book while desperately needing a boost of courage and a break from self-help books, I found myself fully immersed in her story. Sophia is a highly accomplished woman who managed an array of amazing hip hop artists and a key role in the rise of Shaolin. She is also a single mother, a hustler, a writer, a producer, a manager, an artist of her own right who embodies her sexuality and whom I consider one of the greatest female lead of our time. I cried and laughed as if listening to a dear friend recounting her life struggles and successes, her way of story telling was captivating, moving and magical. I related to the gender and race struggles that Sophia faced as a child, young adult, wife, mother, hustler and more profoundly her struggles to find her OWN voice within the patriarchal society that we live in.
